Kerala Tourist Places
Though every region of KERALA is full with attractions and beautiful scenery and all the places are counted as must to visit. Some of the best Places to Visit in Kerala are Kovalam,Kottayam,Pallivasal and Kundala. The places can by divided as per the seasons like Trivandrum during the monsoons,Munnar in Winter and Wayanad in summer.

Kerala Backwaters & Beaches

Cochin Backwaters
The most important activity in any Cochin tourist itinerary would be a ferry ride across the vast expanses of Kochi backwaters. Hemmed with swaying coconut palms and Chinese nets silhouetted against the backdrop of the setting sun.

Kollam Backwaters
The houseboats eventually take shape at the hands of skilled craftsmen of the village, who make sue of local and eco-friendly materials like wood, bamboo poles and coconut fibre.

Alleppey Backwaters
As you drive into the picturesque city of Alleppey complete with canals, backwaters, beaches and lagoons, there is a certain energy and a 'feeling of being one with nature' that comes to you.

Kumarakom Backwaters
The village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres is a favourite haunt of migratory birds.

Varkala Beach
Located in South kerala at North end boarder of Trivandrum District, Varkala is an amazing seaside resort and spa. It is also an important Hindu centre of pilgrimage. Varkala is filled with various Hotels,Resorts,Homestays and Restaurants

Kovalam Beach
Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. It has been a favourite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930s. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing

Cochin Beach
The beaches in and around the Cochin City of Kerala are the best places you can turn to, when you start feeling flustered after a vigorous sightseeing spree. The gentle lashing of the sea waves and the cool breeze will definitely have a balm-like effect, unwind and relax.

Beaches in Alleppey
Alappuzha beach is a popular picnic spot. The pier, which extends into the sea here, is over 137 years old. Entertainment facilities at the Vijaya Beach Park add to the attraction of the beach. There is also an old lighthouse nearby which is greatly fascinating to visitors.

Kerala Wildlife Sanctuary

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
A unique thorny scrub forest with xerophyte species, Chinnar is the habitat for the endangered Giant Grizzled Squirrel of India. Located in the rain shadow area of the Western Ghats, unlike other sanctuaries in Kerala, Chinnar gets only less than two months of rain every year. Rich in wildlife, the mixed deciduous forests are ideal for trekking.

Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary
A land-locked district, Idukki is one of the most nature-rich areas of Kerala. The Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary here spreads over an area of 105.364 sq km in the Thodupuzha and Udumpanchola taluks of the district. Situated at an altitude of 450-748 m above sea level, this sanctuary occupies the forest land between the Cheruthoni and Periyar rivers.

Eravikulam National Park
It is an ideal place for seeing the biodiversity of high elevation shola-grassland ecosystem. Visitors are taken to Rajamalai in forest dept vehicles and given an opportunity to see all this. Private vehicles are not allowed here. The National Park is usually closed at the time of calving of Nilgiri Tahr which is usually during the early months of every year.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Established in 1973, Muthanga Wildlife sanctuary is contiguous to the protected area network of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka on the northeast and Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu on the southeast. Rich in bio-diversity, the sanctuary is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.

Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary
Thekkady in Kerala State , India 's largest wildlife sanctuary is a dream destination for any tourist visiting India . The Country's sole Tiger reserve, Thekkady, with its bountiful treasures of tropical flora and fauna is the ultimate reservoir of many an endangered species and a rich tribal culture.

Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary
The Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over 55 sq km of undulating forested highlands on the slopes of the Western Ghats. The highest peak here - Katti Betta - rises to a majestic 1145 m above sea level.

Hill Stations in Kerala

Munnar Hillstations
Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. 1,600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India.

Wayanad Ghats
The green ghats enroute to Wayanad has nine hairpin bends, each turn taking one to a higher altitude offering a better view of the picturesque plains below. Thamarassery Churam, route explored by a tribal was developed by the British.

Thekkady
Thekkady in Kerala is a very popular tourist destination renowned for its rainforests, wildlife and spice plantations. It is one of the highlights on the well-known Kochi(Cochin)- Thekkady- Kumarakom/Alleppey tourist circuit.

Idukki
Idukki may not have a place in the cultural or historical map of Kerala. Much of the district still thrives on agriculture, mushroom cultivation, dairy farming etc. The waters are pristine & crystal clear, & the only sounds those of the leaves.
