One of the chief attractions about Payyambalam Beach is an outstanding sculpture of a mother and a child, sculpted by Kanayi Kunjiraman, a famous sculptor who has also sculpted the Yakshi sculpture of Malampuzha.

The sculpture of a mother and a child on Payyambalam Beach is a perfect example of the sculptor’s skillfulness. This huge gigantic landscaped sculpture leaves the visitors awe-struck with its brilliant artistry.

There is also a beautifully maintained garden close to this beach, where visitors can spend their time in the evening taking in the captivating beauty of the ocean during this time of the day. Also that, a landscape nearby this beach is a cremation area of some renowned personalities like A.K Gopalan, Swadeshabimani Ramakrishna Pilla, K.G Marar and Pamban Mandavan.

Tourists can also enjoy the lighthouse area involving a tiled pathway where they can enjoy a casual stroll all the while enjoying the picturesque scenes around this place. Adventure sports like jet ski and paragliding can also be enjoyed at this beach.

Accommodation is not much of a problem while visiting this beach, as there are several guesthouses and budget hotels, located at a distance of just 1 km from the beach. Other mid-range accommodation facilities can be found within the range of 3 km from the beach, on Gokhale Road and close to Kannur Railway Station. You will not find luxury hotels close to this beach.

Eat

If you feel hungry while wondering around this beach, searching for a quality food is not much a problem.  The shacks lining the beach offer fresh delicious seafood, such as shrimp, prawns and lobsters. For the tourists who are vegetarian, few shacks and restaurants that are found across the road close to the beach, offer wide variety of scrumptious vegetarian food.

Best Time to Visit

Although the beach can be visited throughout the year, the appropriate time to visit this place is from October to April.

By Rail: The nearest railway station to this beach is Kannur Railway Station, located at a distance of about 2 km.

By Air: The nearest airport to this beach is Karipur International Airport, located at a distance of about 93 km towards south.
