Padmanabhapuram Palace
Padmanabhapuram palace is one of the royal heritages of India situated in the town Thuckalay, district of Kanyakumari, southern boundary of India. It can be reached at mere distance of 37 Km from Kanyakumari, 20 Km from Nagarcoil and 50 Km from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Built around 1601 A.D. by RavipillaiRavivarmaKulasekharaPerumal, it was ancient capital of Travancore till the end of 17th Century. Being one of the archeological and architectural wonder, this palace is made up of granite and 4 km long. This gigantic fortress reflects the conventional architecture of Kerala and managed by the archeological department of Kerala. A must visit place for its impressive architecture and artwork.

Vattakottai Fort
Vattakottai is popular for granite fort called as Circular Fort, which is 6 km from Kanyakumari. It was built along the coastline in the 18th century mainly as a costal defense. The fort covers about 3 and half acres with strong tall walls of 26 feet high and 28 feet thick walls. Marthandavarma the king of Travancore built this fort under the command of captain De Lannoy.
   
Chitharal Jain Monuments
Chitharal is a village popular for Rock-cut temple of Thirthankaras. This small village is located 7 km from Marthandam and 45 km from Kanyakumari. A spectacular cave with finely carved deities of Thirthankaras is in the hillock. The sculptures in the cave believed to be carved in the 9th century A.D. and later in 13th Century A.D. this place is converted into Bagavathy temple.
 
Mathu Hanging Bridge
About 60 Km from Kanyakumari and 60 Km from Thiruvananthapuram is a magnificent man-made structure of Aqueduct called as Mathur Hanging Trough. Made of concrete, this trough held up by 28 pillars at a height of 115 ft. It holds the record for the highest and longest aqueduct in South Asia. Constructed across the Parazhiyarriver in 1966, the main purpose of this trough is to carry the water for irrigation. The phenomenal view of Western Ghats valley and the flow of Parazhiyarriver under the trough gives us escalating experience. Recently developed children’s park adds charm to this place.

Udayagiri Fort
Udayagiri fort is situated northwest of Kanyakuamri, just 14 Km from Nagercoil. It was originally built in 16th Century, though Raja RajaChola destroyed major portions of the fort. In the middle of 17th Century during 1741-44 King MarthandaVarma rebuilt the fort under the guidance of Dutch Naval De Lannoy. Once this fort was military barracks of Travancore Rulers. Now the fort is about 90 acres of area comprises of parks, tomb of De Lannoy, Small Hill about 260 ft. Recently discovered tunnel adds more attraction to this spot.
